This year we decided to contract the task of restoring and planting flowers in the troughs on the railings to Busy Bee Garden Centre, in a trial.  Busy Bee replaced rusty brackets – fitting new ones to level each trough.  They installed wicks to aid water retention, populated the troughs with beautiful plants and refitted them on 11th June.  They look spectacular.

On 4th June Mike took his long-reach hedgetrimmer to Grove Road Triangle and trimmed the very overgrown bushes until it sadly died and he continued at a snail’s pace using loppers!  The following day a team of four spent the morning tidying the whole area using hand-tools.  Because we had missed our usual  autumn slot for this work party, there was more than the usual amount of work to do.  It was hard work.  There was so much green waste that we managed to fill eight maxi bags!  Many thanks to Ventnor Town Council and Ace Waste for arranging for these to be disposed of.

A small team of volunteers attended a work party in the Town Square, armed with compost and trays of new plants, to prepare our planters for the summer.  A new planter, to replace one which had seen better days, was installed under the information board.
